1 WAVERLEY (formerly 2005 Black Prince)
Built in 1952 for the Skegness Miniature Railway, but returned the following year and sent to the Weymouth Miniature Railway, where it was named 'Black Prince'. Operated the railway almost single-handedly from 1953 to closure in 1971. It was then sold to Jack Doyle of Burnage, Manchester and operated for a short time on a portable railway in the Manchester district.
Sold to Tony Allcock before July 1973, it was completely rebuilt and 'Anglicised' by partially lowering the running plate, fitting smoke deflectors and a British-style chimney. Now renamed 'Waverley', the locomotive went on to run at the Loughborough station of the Great Central Railway until 1975 when it was sold to Graham Ellis for the new Mull & West Highland Railway. Lacking weather protection, and suffering from poor weight distribution, the scale miniature Atlantic was not ideal for hauling trains in the damp Scottish Highlands, but it did see some use, and was finally reboilerd David Vere in 1987.
In 1994 she was rebuilt by David Vere, and in 1997 sold to the 'Waverley Group', but remaining on Mull. In 2003 she was moved to the Rudyard Lake Railway in Staffordshire, then on to the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway near Falkirk for overhaul. Since 2005 the locomotive has been resident on the Rudyard Lake Railway, remaining on the line after it was sold in 2024
