1908 ERNEST HENRY UPTON (1442 SIR A MONTGOMERY)
If there were a reward for the most travelled locomotive, Sir A Montgomery would be in the running. According to the Stephenson Locomotive Society
Built by G&S Light Engineering in 1937. To Crown Inn, Wychbold carrying works number 1001. Some time prior to 1945 to Dudley Zoo Railway. 1945 to 1951, Bought by H Judd and moved to Southsea, and named 'Sir A Montgomery' in 1946 at Southsea. From 1951 at Reading, still owned by H Judd. At some point to North Tawton MR, Devon, leaving in 1954. By 1955 at Littlestone-on-Sea, close to the RH&DR. Known to be at Littlestone in 1955 and possibly through March 1956, then to Chippenham, Wiltshire, and circa 1960 to S Monk, Nottinghamshire. Before 1963 to C Gilbert of Warwickshire. Before 1970 to Creed of Worcestershire. By 1979 with J Williams of Chepstow. In 1980 to Drayton Manor Park, West Midlands, and in early 1983 to the Weymouth Bay MR where a tall narrow gauge cab was fitted by 1987. It probably left in March 1990 to Severn Lamb where the odd can seems to have been removed. From March 1993 to July 2000 with K Horn of Hampshire, stored, out of use. In July 2000 to Eastleigh Lakeside Railway. From 2002, still at Eastleigh but with new owners being rebuilt until 2005 when it was renamed and commenced running in rebuilt form as 1908 'Ernest Henry Upton'.
