Data Protection and Privacy Policy

Purpose of this Website

This website is the logical continuation of a long-standing archive held by the late Dave Holroyde and now by Nigel Mundy, listing and providing details about miniature locomotives in the British Isles.

The aim is to build up a comprehensive and accurate archive of information about these interesting locomotives, to be useful for historians, future owners, and railway enthusiasts.

Personal Information

Personal information in the source archives is mainly limited to surname and initial of each locomotive's builder. This would not normally be enough to identify individuals, but since the site links names to locomotives there is a possibility that research could link names to individuals via other information about the locomotives found elsewhere.

Other personal information contained in this website's database only relates to administrator user accounts.

Data Protection Act Exemptions

As an archive of historical data, this website is exempt from many GDPR/DPA obligations. However we do not wish to intrude on people's privacy, so we will consider any requests for names to be hidden on a case-by-case basis.

Information Sources

This archive was initially built with data collected by Dave Holroyd and later by Nigel Mundy. This data was obtained from digital original copies of published booklets, compiled by Nigel Mundy.

Additional information has been added by David Henshaw and Anthony Cartmell, and it is hoped that others will be interested in contributing and updating the database as time goes on.

Website and Database Security

This website is built with the well-known Drupal content management framework. Drupal is known for its attention to security, and the community has a full-time security team who monitor the code and issue security updates with corresponding CVE codes as and when necessary.

The site is maintained on an ongoing basis by Anthony Cartmell of Fonant Ltd, along with many other Drupal websites on a selection of web servers. The servers are monitored constantly, have intrusion-detection systems in place, and strong firewall rules. Physically the server is located in a highly-secure data centre run by Gyron Internet to the highest internet standards.
